When I read third tier right wing blogs I have a lot of trouble figuring out what they are talking about. I was reading this guy’s feeling that the US Navy should have sunk a few speed boats in the straight of Hormuz so we don’t look like pussies when I stumbled across this graphic, which outlines the evil plan of the left to revive socialism:

Its just racism. It would be nice if people would just accept that.
Like this guy. He rants on and on about how bad the mexicans are. But the only evidence he can come up with is that “there are totally a lot of prostitutes in mexican neighborhoods, I know because I drive by and see a lot of gyno clinics” and “9/11 OMG OMG!”.
A choice moment:
Last year some 45 billion dollars was wired back to Latin America and the Caribbean by illegal aliens. Even more money was smuggled out of our nation otherwise, as there are illegal aliens who come from other regions of the world and also send billions of dollars out of the United States. These exported dollars are utterly lost to our economy. If we are to consider the enormous cost of tracking down illegal aliens and saving the loss of these exported dollars, our nation would realize significant savings.
Oh, I get it, the reason illegal immigrants are bad for the economy is because they are shipping our money overseas! $45 billion a year! That has to be bad, I mean, almost as bad as the $60 billion a month trade deficit. So only sixteen times as much money.

Glenn Greenwald lays out the saga of the right wing and Plamegate.
I think this is a great example of how propaganda works. The smart propagandist knows that you don’t need to convince the people that a lie is the truth. You only need to sew enough doubt that people stop believing the actual truth. If you ask many people that came of age in china after Tienemen square what they think happened, even those who have lived overseas and heard the actual story of what happened tend to view it as a wash: people say many things, who knows what is true. When people doubt reality happened it might as well not have.
Evolution opponents exploit this, even though they don’t realize they aren’t telling the truth. They throw long lists of untrue or discredited criticisms of evolution. To refute them is long and tedious so evolution goes from reality to “disputed”.

The Headline:
Bush to pressure Senate to revive U.N. sea treaty
Critics say it would put 70% of globe under control of global bureaucracy
Uhh…That is the weakest scare headline ever. The fish are all going to have their sovereignty! Notice, however, that the wingnuts have started to abandon Bush and returned to there old Clinton-era ways of assuming the government is evil and plans to turn the US in to some sort of totalitarian hellhole, administered by the UN with high taxes and no bible.

..in the short but storied history of “profile photo galleries”. I won’t link to it, because it isn’t done and I prefer not to reveal who pays the rent and the $10 a month I pay for this site. Suffice to say, it is awesome, or it better be, because I worked 70 hours a week for the last two weeks doing it. Anyhoo, back to the neglected business of blogging. So, I have read a few books, and tried to pay attention to the news in my complete emersion in the arcana of Javascript, JSON and our crazy ass new photo backend.
The first thing I would like to direct our loyal reader(s) to is the site “World Net Daily“. If you aren’t reading it already, you should be. It is a repository of bat-shit crazy wingnuttery that is so completely off the deep end its approaching the Weekly World News. The best feature is that it tries to cram all the weird wingnut stuff in. New World Order, the Invasion of the Brown Hordes, Taxes are Too High, Liberals are Babykillers.
It parodies itself…. Read the rest of this entry »

For some reason it is taking forever, anyway, in the mean time:
The truth burns!. As we all know, the point of most homeschooling is to protect children from dangerous things like science and information.

When things like this happen I try to resist the impulse to draw any conclusions. There are too many unknowns at this point to know what conclusions, if any can be drawn from yesterdays tragedy. We can however, say for certain that whatever conclusions Debbie Schlussel draw are pretty much the wrong ones:
UPDATE: The shooter has now been identified as a Chinese national here on a student visa. Lovely. Yet another reason to stop letting in so many foreign students…[later post]…So, the perpetrator of the Virginia Tech massacre is a Chinese national here on a student visa. And, today, this alien did “the job that Americans just won’t do.”
Remember that the next time you hear President Bush and Condi Clueless waxing lyrical about how we need more foreign students in America. We do not. Remember the Mana Saleh Almanajam and Shaker Mohsen Alsidran, two Saudi students in Tampa, last year, who hijacked a school bus full of kids while wearing trench coats in 90-plus degree weather?
Debbie has updated to note this was a South Korean national. She hasn’t figured out what a green card is yet. I recommend heading over to her site to see how “national security” conservatism looks a lot like plain, old fashioned racism. (I’m not going to link, her domain is her name)
