Misogyny Online

This story on digg (and its comments) were so vile, so one sided…and so common. After the feeding frenzy over the Duke case I sort of felt that brought out a certain group of people that like to feel as if white men are a persecuted minority. But looking around I think the really is a strong current of misogyny in online communities. I don’t know what causes it, but it really disturbs me. Anyway, a couple of writers have tackled this well. Read on:

Finally! Some trolls!

Hell yeah. Welcome, poxonleft…if that’s your REAL name. Thanks for stopping by!

Breaking: This Site == The Left

We are now big time!:

Remember last week when Glenn Reynolds was widely lambasted by the Left for suggesting that the United States should be assassinating Iran’s radical mullahs and atomic scientists?

That’s right folks, a minor right wing blog has cited this one as the Left. We are now big time. (FYI, we get <10 unique views a day.)

On what planet

can you write about “Michelle [Malkin]’s positive impact as a journalist”? Oh right. On the blog of the year. The fact that anyone on earth thinks Malkin is a journalist terrifies me. Powerline calls Malkin’s critics “generally unhinged”. Maybe some are, I don’t know, but criticizing Malkin doesn’t seem anywhere near as unhinged as arguing that the internment of the Japanese was a good thing.

tbogg, via atrios, has more.

Oops.

Ok you can comment without registering now, sorry about that.

We really, really are back.

Well, I am going to work on this again, and hopefully some new co-bloggers are going to make it all happen. Since we last met I got married and moved to San Francisco. So anyway. Here we are.

We’re back!

Sorry about the long outage there…really busy with other priorities I’m afraid. Anyway, back online, will post more later.

Search terms

Someone came to this site based on this google search: “romantic politically correct worldview with very strong pro homosexual content”.

I feel proud.

Readers?

People read this site? Wow. Who knew? Anyway, welcome followers of Protein Wisdom.

I don’t want to get too drawn into this, but this “gender feminists” thing is a straw man as far as I can tell. Just like my crack about “reasonable guy” conservatives. You can’t argue fairly against someone by summarizing what you thing they stand for and then disagreeing with it. Its too easy.

Dammit

And here I was thinking Denver was great. It turns out the guy that writes “Protein Wisdom” lives in here. Hopefully not too close though. That guy is one of the “I’m a reasonable guy” Tacitus type conservatives. But he still is repeating the same crap about all the progress going on in Iraq. As if the evil media is suppressing this great emerging democracy.
