Feeling Good about 06

I think Colorado is looking good right now. I think if all goes well the dems will keep the state legislature, gain the governers mansion and pick up another house seat. I think many voters in Colorado have seen that at least on the local level the democrats actually know how to govern.

I heard Bill Ritter speak on saturday, and I have to say it wasn’t the best speech I’ve ever heard. But I think the guy seems smart and level-headed, and will have little trouble beating Beauprez, especially after Beauprez is well bloodied by what looks to be an ugly primary with wingnut extraordinaire Holtzman.

I can’t believe the state party is wasting any energy on CD-6…Tom Tancredo is awful in every way, but so is Douglas county. Due to the shape of the districts he is going to win, regardless of Bill Winter’s best intentions. We are better off focusing on CD-4 (winnable, but tough) and CD-7 (very winnable). But who asked me?

Oh Bill Ritter, why must you taunt us?

As Luis has brought up, Bill Ritter is not the dream candidate I would hope for. But what choice do we have? No one else seems to want to run. Udall, out. Hickenlooper, out. Salazar would have been a great moderate and a sure-fire win. We need someone that will protect this state in a potential post-roe country, but we can’t just run Mike Miles. A daily progressive workshop at the tattered cover is not going to get the Bethechange candidate into office.
