I listened on the way in to work today. He made some “funny” “jokes”. Also he set an incredibly vague standard for what victory might look like. But he actually lowered the bar on this amorphous victory state quite a bit. I mean, there aren’t going to be zero car bombs. (he actually said something to this effect) Not a lot of discussion about Iran but one thing was telling. When asked why he couldn’t have direct talks with Iran he said “because I know it wouldn’t be successful”. He quickly qualified this with some crap about other countries needing to be involved. But I still wonder, does this mean he’s already given up on diplomacy?

Also the official White House response to the non-binding resolution is that the democrats aren’t giving the plan a chance to work before they condemn it. Which is completely non-nonsensical. All plans don’t have to be tested to be opposed. In fact, typically planning is done before doing, and discussion of plans usually happens before the plan is executed…at least I thought that was the case.
