Wish I could say people like Bill couldn't possibly have Buddhist allies, but I got my disillusionment a few years ago reading the letters section of [i]Tricycle{/i], where I found a nice gem of stupidity from a self-proclaimed Buddhist "dittohead."

I guess stupidity, malice, and hypocrisy don't discriminate among religions; maybe that's why, after years of study and searching on the subject, I decided I really couldn't buy any of them strongly enough to change my life. Unlike what appears to me to be the overwhelming majority of people who have reached the same conclusion, I felt this meant I shouldn't proclaim myself to be anything (other than possibly a "Protestant atheist/agnostic").

Still asking myself - and them, when I get the chance - what having "faith" in Jesus means when your actions daily express your contempt. Thought at least the Catholics, for whom "faith without works is dead" (did Paul, Martin Luther, or some one else say this? my Bible/Christian theology-reading days are long over) might take this seriously, and some may, but apparently not our Bill.
